Notes on - Legends of Tomorrow: WVRDR_ERROR_100 Oest-of-th3-Gs.gid3OnnotFound

Guideon Not found notes

Astra, Spooner and Gideon are walking to NYC.  Or to the highway to hitchhike

The gag of Spooner knowing to do things by the sun is pretty cute

Strawberry Rhubarb is Astra’s favorite.  Gross.

Astra and Spooner are extra bickery here

It’s Schroedinger’s pie theft

Gideon: That pie is historically significant

Astra starts out having difficulty recognizing Gideon to be a person

What are Spooner’s powers exactly

So they’re going int oGideon’s mind and only Gideon can lead them out

It’s nice that it’s the two newest Legends wih the least history with Gideon who are exploring her mind

Franz gets to use his real accent!

All the old logos in the brief credits was a sweet touch

Oh fuck, not Bishop again

Ah well, at least it’s the tolerable version of him

Bishop’s brain wipe doesn’t appear to have taken.  He’s getting lfashbacks.

Earlier Bishop has Gideon’s operating code – he brought a copy of her hard drive back in his lab coat

Spooner:  They never told me you were British

Jax:  Yeah, I’m not.  This is just how Gideon’s chosen to remember me for some reason

So the avatar of Gideon is inside gideon’s memories.  Should that be possible?

So Gideon’s memories are being erased – by Bishop’s interference?  She was able to hold on to key memories that were important to her.

It’s a quest narrative to retrieve Gideon’s memories

Astra again is fine with rebooting Gideon like y6ou would as a computer, not seeing her as human

Astra:  So you’re going to send us inside Gideon’s head even though we’re already inside gideon’s head?

Spooner:  Ok, there’s a reason I don’t go to Christopher Nolan movies.  Let’s not overthink things.

The spinning through the wall effect is pretty cool

Spooner:  Wait, now I’m in a coma?

Gideon:  I actually understand

Ava: You do?

Gideon: I really miss Sara too.

That’s when she learned to prioritize love over logic.

These are the memories of the moments that made her what she is.

Awww. Ray.  I miss Ray.

Hawkman:  We must avenge th3e death of my son.  And Rip’s son… I think…

Was Sara really that callous back in the beginning?  It’s been so long since I watched those.

Seeing her be rude to Ray feels wrong

Gideon:   Iremember them all now.  Hawkman.  Vandal Savage.

Spooner:  You sure that’s a good thing?

I appreciate them dogging on Sara’s original outfit

Awwww.  Martin

It’s a great choice that Astra and Sara have no idea who the previous members are

Martin singing showtunes – nice little tribute

Aw.  Sweet mention of gumball

Holy shit, Amy Louise Pemberton has the voice of an angel!

Evil version of Gideon as an adversary.  It’s cold computer v. humanized Gideon

Spooner:  It ain’t Gideon’s fault.  Well.  Not this Gideon.  Blue Gideon’s a big old bitch.

Gideon blacked out due to the stress odf there not being a right answer and the virus-Gideon used that opportunity to attack.  OK, That tracks

Piloting them back to her subconscious manually is kind of batshit crazy, but in a fun way

Palmer’s ingenuity, Sara’s bravery, and a dash of insanity

I bet there are a lot of fun easter eggs in those memory flashes

Yeah, non of that really makes logical sense, but screw it

****  Gideon:  I always hoped I’d get to go on a Legends mission in real life. Always hoped it would be one of the westerns.  But this is fun too.

Fun convention that Mick is passed out on the floor

The announcement of there only being one bathroom is cute.

They must have only been able to get Victor Garber for a short time

Gideon – Rip is acting out of

character!

This is all turning on whether Gideon is better with her added humanity or needs to be returned to her computer self.

Si is that the actual Gideon’s consciousness on Bishops desk, or a copy

They’re leaning heavy into how little teamwork there was initially

OK, so Gideon is literally on Bishops desk?  No, she’s in the cell.  That must be a copy on the desk.  Are they all linked?

Those memories made me who I am.

It’s the old question of is the pain of painful memories outweighed by the humanity your memories confer on you

Gideon:  He’d been a person, but suddenly he was just a thing

Nice montage of every sad thing that’s ever happened on the show

Nice detail that they rebuilt the season 1 console

Rip reprogammed Gideon to change her priorities from protecting history to protecting the legends.  That definitely feels like a violation

OK, now the gun de-corrupts the memories they encounter.  That works aesthetically

Tala Ashe gets to be both versions of Zari!

Making Sara slip on a Beebo!

Really nice minimal usage of the main cast

Gideon was ready to sacrifice her humanity

I don’t want to be me.  How can any of this be worth it?

Gingerbread legends.  Ha!

They’re celebrating the holidays all at once.  That’s adorable.

Funny gag re: Gary eating people.

Gideon gossiping with the book club!

SO MUCH JOY!

We keep going because we also get moments like this

Amy Louise Pemberton physically joining them to sing Loive will keep Us Together isa just the perfect emotional resolution to this

Gideon’s in control now, now that she’s resolved the emotional question

Gideon’s accepting both her computer and human sides

OMG the group speech about becoming human and part of the team was wonderful

And now Astra sees her as human

Ah.  Is this Bishop stuff flashback to what led to the situation, or does Gideon now have an evil factory restored copy of Gideon?

Notes on - Doctor Who: Joy to the World

Doctor Who – Joy to the World notes. The Queen’s Hotel – Manchester 1940 I quite like Basil and Mrs. Basil Why are we in WWII again? Basil: It’s the end of everything, you know. Everything we hold dear.   Democracy itself will fall. I hate Pumpkin Latte Aren’t those locked doors pretty much always just connecting rooms? Orient Express – Italy – 1962 Do a lot of people read Murder on the Orient Express on the Orient   Express?   Bit on the nose. OK, we’re opening with a montage of the Doctor bursting in on various time periods and places to offer them the same lukewarm toastie and pumpkin Latte.   That’s a pretty clever way to establish the concept of the hotel from the back door, as it were MOTOE is a much thicker book than that.   And she has handwritten pages Base camp – Everest 1953.   Is there only one base camp? Sandringham Hotel – London 2024.   So, time of airing then. I’m not loving Joy’s outfit Apparently the...

Notes on - American Gods: Tears of the Wrath-Bearing Tree

Tears of the wrath bearing tree notes Eggs with two yolks always freak me out What’s with the boxer walking in and out? Bilquis needs to find ‘the other’ and convince him he isn’t alone? They’re really lening into the fluid in slow motion shots. OK, the wax forming the US was cool.   And a nice visual to introduce the concept of the exact center of the US So who is Shadow’s other?   Laura?   TB?   Wednesday?   We saw all three of them Shadow jiust claimed the ravens as his own. That was a pretty tenuous description for him to recognize Laura from, but then he did know she was headed to kill Wednesday ****   One shock at a time. He’s still Crispin Glover.   I thought he was only supposed to be in one episode this season.   I wonder what the real reason for the casting changes was How did he convince Laura to go the the Gods place? World very carefully told Laura that Shadow was there and then played every reverse psyc...

Notes on - Doctor Who: The Well

The Well Notes The Doctor and Belinda are trying to get back to 5/24/25 after just one vindicator reading.   That seems optimistic, but it is a good way to remind audience of the basic setup of ‘stop and take readings. Belinda is very methodical and logical. Good skill set for a nurse. Belinda: Have we been invaded? Or hit by a meteor? Or swatted by a giant moth? The Doctor: Oh.   Imagine a moth that big! I love how healthy Belinda’s relationship with her parents is *** I will meet your mum and dad. And I will make your dad laugh. And your mum can whistle at my behind. And I will sing.   I will do the singing. That is a promise. So a second triangulation reading from the vindicator 500,000 years in the future She’s asking good questions and it’s allowing the Doctor to   give his standard ‘humans are awesome’ shtick, but is also very cleverly letting them slip in the required ‘The TARDIS translates’ explanation. OK, I am officially in love w...
