Rose390 notes
The mouse dot for the opening is very effective. I’m
assuming this is Kristen’s daughters swearing to be 18
I want VR goggles now
That house looks just like a house on our ghost tour. I love
how easy it is to signify Halloween in TV terms
Ben grew up in a house like this
Is that true about the 6” screwdriver?
Nice touch how suburban normal everything is except the lock
chains. Very sinister.
The rest of the family sometimes all shelters together in a
locked room
They keep Eric locked in his room. That’s a fire hazard
Eric gets agitated by seeing the baby
Eric looks creepy
What is it about ‘creepy possessed kid’ that shows find so irresistible?
Why can he not have chairs but can have drawers?
He wanted to bite his sister. Ok, not creepy at all
Eric: You don’t laugh when you’re hurt
Kristen is a good psychologist
Eric tried to have a kid hit by a train
OK, Eric is a stone cold sociopath
The count to 42 is a specific anime reference, apparently
He’s been like this for 2 years
He tried to poison all the family by putting bleach in the
milk
So many prescriptions. And he’s been institutionalized
The federal programs won’t take Eric anymore
So is the implication that Eric is faking being possessed
Ben thinks there’s an environmental
Greenish tint in the daughters hair. Copper from old piping. And they moved in two
years ago
Kristen: Ben, could you check my house for metal corrosion.
Ben: Yeah. Your kids psychos?
Cut to girls screaming
Sheryl got the girls VR goggles so that she can play online
poker.
OK, the haunted girl VR game is pretty cool
So, it must have been Eric playing the game in the opening,
which implies that the game possessed him
I love how real the girls feel as sisters and how much they
talk over each other
I can never keep the girls straight
Oldest Daughter: (under her breath) switch to Bunny Hop
So now we have two competing theories. Copper poisoning in
the new house, or got possessed by playing the VR game
Would a kid that age not know what a rosery is? I don’t
remember if I did or not
So the kid can hold a blessed rosary
It’s nice how they’re alternating between Kristen’s psych test
and David’s holy tests
Are these factors a real test? Probably
He scored high in grandious and manipulative
Fae it until you make it
True, the family does want to be told that it’s supernatural
and can’t be rationally explained. That makes total sense
Eric doesn’t trust Kristen, but seems to have bonded with
David. Probably because of the comic books
David’s kind of ‘Dextering’ Eric and giving him a code to
pretend to be normal
This is the first time Ben has met the girls. That’s weird
in hindsight
Lynn: So, the shower’s broken?
Ben: No, it isn’t. Your mother’s just worried you’re going
to turn into psychopaths.
Hey, closed captioning just identified the girls’ names!
Ben the Magnificent!
Ben’s interactions with the daughters is possibly my
favorite thing about this show
So Rose390 is another player online
I suppose the girls’ camera feed WOULD let rando strangers
see the inside of the house
Saying you’re just a normal girl is pretty much the
strongest possible way to indicate that you are not
Ben must already really like Kristen to spend this much time
checking her pipes
So, will Ben rat out the girls to Kristen or be their ally?
Just one monster could be a kids game. What Ben saw was
fairly innocuous
Ah, the girls fessed up and saved Ben the dilemma. I wonder
which way he would have gone.
Ben is making super valid parenting points for not having
kids
I get why Kristen is hyper-identifying because of Eric, but
Ben’s right about the girls telling her the truth and taking away the VR would
only send them to other places
Kristen: Thanks, Ben the Magnificent
Eric’s pretending to be normal is working out so far
Given his history, maybe don’t give Eric open access to the
pool
Baby in the pool!
OK, pretending to be normal is clearly not working out for
Eric
Child drowning is really traumatic
I really thought that it was going to turn out to be a doll
Can you get an exorcism set up that quickly?
Kristen: Psychology always thinks that there’s more to do,
but that family will be dead before we get any answers
The bunnies are terrifying
Rose is claiming that something’s happened to their dad on
Everest
Lynn has a healthy level of skepticism
I have a casual dislike to parents that name all their
children the same letter. It creeps me out.
OK, we ruled the pipes out as a cause
Damn, the parents totally murdered Eric. The blood clearly
was Eric’s
The composition of that three shot was gorgeous
Lovely vertical transition from David praying and Kristen
with the girls
We don’t address in this episode whether or not Rose was
lying about something having happened to their dad. Nor do we get closure on what’s going to
happen with Rose. The plot thread
remains open.
