Tyme Patrol notes
We start again with the circus in London 1927, but from
Niles’ perspective. He did NOT know
about Dorothy. He recognized Ted from
the news of the circus
Snows and Toes? No
smalls and talls
Niles doesn’t know what Ted is either. Spirit or familiar?
And it WAS seeing Niles that distracted Ted and caused the
mayhem
***As for what happened next, words fail…
That was a lot earlier than I imagined we’d get a direct
sighting of the Candlemaker. Looks cool
So did he spare Niles because he wasn’t being mean, or did
he sense Niles was Dorothys dad, or what?
Why was I surprised that Dorothy could speak clearly. Where
did Dorothy get her language skills?
Danny was a young sentient alleyway at the time.
It’s actually a perfectly reasonable plan to hide Dorothy on
Danny, it’s not really a case of locking her up. Although he probably should have stayed on
Danny with her and done his researches from there
It’s a good opening device, but why is Cliff taping the
interview with the Chief?
Eric Morden had a longevity talisman, which Niles stole from
him at the raid in Paraguay. Did we know
about the talisman already? It felt like
they were making that a point of mystery but now they just throw it out in
expository dialogue?
Cliff: So, you shot
up the Nazi lab, stole the dumb monkey paw, and Morden became Mr. Nobody. I saw the puppet show!
They still haven’t said if Niles caused Rita’s accident and
why she didn’t end up at the ant farm?
Niles is not wrong about the importance of helping Dorothy
control her powers
Darling: Good morning! Rise and Shine! Our father is dying!
Jane: What in the
Doris Day Ikea fuck was that?
Jane asks herself the same question the viewer’s
asking. Why yare they all still even
there?
I don’t understand how the cotton ball works. Is there a junkie reference service I can ask?
Rita: Oh for the love
of god, what is or is not true?
Cliff is astoundingly not bothered by the news of Niles
dying
Niles is 139
Rita: You don’t have
to tell old blobberstiltskin here that Niles Caulder is a flawed man. But now he is also a dying man. His teeth are probably loosening as we
speak. Soon he’ll have no memory of how
to take care of himself or Dorothy. We
could be mere days away from daddy diapers.
Niles: Rita!
Jane is still touchy about the home for the old doom patrol.
****It’s every man, woman and brick for themselves now.
Cliff: Will he yank
out that very special brain of his and become the tin man? And Chief, if that’s your best option, then
you better go smell some roses, shotgun a Bud Lite, fuck a watermelon, eat a double-double
and take a big ole shit, because all of that is gone!
Larry: My son is
dead.
Cliff: Oh, did Chief
get him too?
Where did Larry get the suit.
Larry thinks his son didn’t even know he existed, but we
learn later that Gary was obsessed with what happened to Larry
Detroit, Michigan.
Vic is attending trauma support group.
Does the world actually know Cyborg’s identity?
Roni was using exclusively military terminology to describe
her mother’s death. She can’t really
blame Vic for assuming it was a military story.
Lots of weird errors in the CC on this one. Particularly the backward words
Going by the bar setup, the trauma group is in the basement
of a VFW
OK, So Herschel is the spider
Niles knows what the candlemaker is and how dangerous, going
by his reaction
Jane’s moving back into the mansion from living in the bus
Jane: You… can do
whatever the fuck you want. Birthday party
entertainer, trash compactor. Your options
are limitless. But also less than five.
Jane’s out of superheroin
Rita’s trying to be supportive of Niles for the sake of
doing a lemons/lemonade thing.
Continuinium – mineral that can bend time.
Good joke about trying to say the name
Dr. Jonathan Tyme. We
hear about his standard super villain origin story
Journal keeping in time travel would indeed be difficult
Why is Cyborg so separate from the rest of the team?
Again, Roni, you were describing everything in military terminology. Vic’s assumption wasn’t not-understandable
‘Do you want to grab a bite and not talk about our moms’,
might be the greatest pick up line ever
Rita’s flip chart
Rita (The Leader) on her flip chart. That says a lot about how she’s trying to
process things.
Was that deliberate reverse psychology or actual?
Jane’s helping not lock up little girls makes sense.
Continuinium makes purple boggle salt when combined with
water
August 8th midnight, 1980
Cliff: I was in Tampa
in the supply closet of the Peking Noodle, up to my nose in boobs and ground up
Sudafed with Jalinda the waitress.
One assumes the three BoN agents just chose to saty at the
roller disco
Dr. Tyme is actually super chill about strangers showing up
in his disco
How would a time ray create roller ska… you know what, never
mind.
This is a very fractured episode
Good fake that Cyborg is going to save Roni, but she doesn’t
need him.
Neither Vic or Roni are really wrong in their point of view. How would you feel if you were the next
person he mugged
OK, now I want to know what the worst thing Roni ever did
was
They do a good job not dragging running jokes out too long.
The Niles and Dr Tyme/Vic and Roni/larry and his sons plots
are all too unconnected
I don’t believe Paul would recognize Larry’s voice that
easily after that much time.
Gary did kill himself
Pauls actually handling this pretty well.
Couples skate!
There were other disco songs.
LOVE that Doctor Tyme only wants to stay at the best moment
of history and roller disco. So not a
super villain
Whoa! Reveal that the
continuinium is Doctor Tyme’s head, not his helmet
No real reason that being frozen in time would make you
relive your most traumatic memory, but it’s an excuse to show us the emergence
of Janes’s first alter
There’s no real logical reason for moving his clock hands
back would reverse time. But the imagery
worked
Rita takes the failure of the mission hard. What DR. Tyme said really hit her hard
Gary has a whole barn dedicated to what happened to Larry
Gary’s letters were all returned without getting to Larry,
and the pain of that moment appears to have summoned a butterfly
She’s older that 7 – is the seven years line referring to
when her alters first appeared? This is
where Miranda first came to the surface and made it clear that her mother knew
about the molestation
So Jane is giving up control now?
Larry would be a better cooking teacher
Last minute reveal – Niles answered the question that Cliff’s
daughter was expendable and is super hard core about anything to protect
Dorothy
Not if I can fucking help it… Is Cliff going to try to
change time?
It’s unclear what’s happening with the butterflys at the
end, other than ‘bad’
