Amends Patrol Notes
We start in the wreckage of the bus crash. Surprisingly sweet music. Nice contrast. This whole season has used music well.
Is the larva OK??
Larry’s got the larva
The larva is injured and trying to connecto to save itself.
*** We’ve been here
before. Battered, bruised. But we lick our wounds and rise from the
ashes, Stronger than ever before.
Larry: Are you
seriously trying to give us a rally speech right now?
Rita is desperately trying to pretend they’re all just like
normal, but she’s destroyed her ralationships with all of them
Is Kay alive behind the wall? She must be I suppose
Jane is bneing surprisingly honest that she’s just not in
any shape to help anyone at the moment.
Larry finally admits that they aren’t a super team. Which paradoxically is the last step to their
becoming one.
And here’s Shelly’s fog.
Rita finally admits that it’s Laura not getting hurt that she’s
mad about.
Hey there, look at Shelly giving the ‘no one’s completely lost’
speech. I like that twist. Apparently Shelly is happy with the results
of the flagellation. And seems pretty well
adjusted
Monsieur Mallah’s point of view is surprisingly understandable
and touching for a French gorilla
Madame Rouge: I will
have your hand for an ashtray.
Monsieur Mallah is getting off of the cycle of abuse. Good for him.
That must be a solid jar.
We heard it break though.
Lovely reveal of the pieces of giant evil robot from Doom
Patrol Patrol
All of Kay’s personalities have escaped out of her head and
are living in Shelly’s fog
Mama Pentacost. Light
and color are languages.
Dr. Harrison says they’re safer in the fog.
This is all getting existentially complicated
Brain in Cliff’s body going 100% Boca is a lot of fun.
WOuldn’t his voice still be Cliff’s though? That’s what the mechanics of the body are set
to.
Mme Rouge: Well, you’re
a giant robot now, and we’re about to extract revenge out of the little shit
that stole your body and tried to kill us.
Cliff: Uh, question. Was that the sound of my one and only body
being pancaked?
Mme. Rouge:
Yeah. It was phenomenal. Next step, Doom Manor. And Rita Fucking Farr
Cliff: Remember when
we all thought you were an ottoman?
Separated from the underground, the other selves are
collapsing into dust.
The cycle of revenge has both Rita and Laura locked in tight
Dr. Harrison is the personification of status quo
So the underground and the alters are connected. If they separate, they both collapse into
dust. That makes sense, aesthetically.
Facehole - Blake_the_Snake: “Of course there’s giant robots
coming out of Florida” #redstateredbot
Facehole – SparkySam3000: I TOLD you fools the bots were coming
for our jobs! #automationisreal
Facehole – ItsAll4youDAMIAN:
Just got some dank weed, yo! I’m
seeing Bots!!!
What’s the symbiotic relationship between Cliff’s brain
running the body versus the levers
This is all about getting Laura to choose to change rather
than revenge.
They’re benefitting from the ambiguity asbout how the robot
runs
Cliff’s peptalk is actually pretty sweet. And not terribly far from what Monsieur
Mallah said to her earlier about making a choice.
Vic’s story about replacement Bo’s is super touching.
Keeg
Let Keeg be your Bo
Larry, Cliff, Rita, Jane, and Especially Laura are all being
forced to make choices to be better people, even a little bot
Another confirmation that Brain sent Garguax
Laura going back to the old Dada attic, scene of her greatest
betrayal, to think things through is an inspired choice. As is that tying into Rita having used the
room to hide the time machine
She literally is changing her world through the exact art
and dance that was intended to do so.
That’s sweet.
So first Madame Rouge was told that someone had chosen not
to kill her. Then she made the choice to
not kill someone else. Then was given
the opportunity to just run away and escape.
So, it is just the time ship itself doing the third person narration. Interesting combination of first and third
person narrator, much like Mister Nobody
The ships shift from third person to first at the last line,
underscoring that Laura’s destiny has gone from being out of her control to being
entirely in her hands
Dr. Henderson seems curiously OK with abandoning Kay if that
meatn she got to keep control
Larry’s bandages are keeping him from rebonding with Keeg
What is Vic’s role going to be in all this going forward
without powers
Of course Cliff would end up just sitting on Clara’s lawn waiting
for her. Man, Clara’s wife puts up with
A LOT
Cliff’s apology to Clara is messy and real.
He definitely should have included Clara’s wife in the list
of people he needs to be there for.
Mallah left Brian a Dear John letter. So sweet.
The Alanis Morrisette CD!
Brian still has the blueprints for the body. Is that how they’re going to get around
getting Cliff back into his proper body?
Brain is doing the ‘fianl temptation of Rita to join the
brotherhood of Evil’ thing
Why is there nothing but knives in that drawer. I guess, Mallah/
“There’s a good girl’ is gross, Brain.
Is Rita motivated by love, really?
How OK are we supposed to be with Rita boiling the brain?
The fog is a handy way of teleporting without Flit around
**** Here we are. Home
again. Partially safe. Mostly sound.
Shelly is DEFINITELY into Jane, romantically.
And the feeling appears to be mutual
Um… is Vic going to be OK?
Was the whole point of de-cyborging him so that he was
physically prepared to take in the larva?
Larry’s accepted his role in taking care of the larva. So this must have been the original one’s
baby, right?
We still don’t know what Jane promised Doctor Harrison in
order to get her to come back and help.
I want more Hammerhead
So Jane agreed to let Doctor Harrison be primary if she came
home.
Hammerhead does not like this deal and is encouraging Jane
to back out of if and go back up top
Madame Rouge made the choice to come to Doom Manor without
her memory to make amends. Fortunately,
she left herself a note.
Laura de Mille:
(Reading her note to herself) You
are Madame Rouge. You are… a terrible
person. But trying to change. You will come across people
who despise you. Jane dresses like a
deranged sock puppet.
Jane: Fair.
Laura: (Reading) ‘And
Larry..didididididi Boris Karloff.’
(looking up) No.. no Larry?
Vic: He’s indisposed. He just had a baby. It’s Larry’s story to tell.
Laura: (Reading) And Vic.
Track suit. Stick up ass. (looking up)
Oh, it’s you. (reading again) And
everyone hates you, especially Rita. You
killed he greatest love. (looking up in
shock) Oh my God. Am I that horrible?
And now Cliff can’t control the robot body that he’s in.
Hey, it’s proper negative Man! Briefly!
You must be Rita. So
much in that one line.
All of this funny banter counterpointed by the real tragedy
of Rita and Laura
Laura: I destroyed
it. You built a beautiful life with Malcolm,
and I destroyed it all. I’m sorry,
Rita. You have every right to kill me. But…
Rita: But what.
Laura: But I’m not
worth it.
Cliff and Jane, still making fart jokes
The people that always call you out on your bullshit and
also forgive you for your bullshit are the friends you need.
Cute nod, billboard for Our Town
Of course it’s a little league game he’s about to take out
Giant Rita! At
last!!!
EXACT MIRROR of ‘All you all right?’ ‘I want to go home.’ ‘We
can do that.’ SUCH good writing
This all is the natural completion of the story started back
in the pilot
End of DP volume one – they finally come together and see
what they couldm be
I love that they make the decision that Laura hasn’t changed
but wants to try.
That is definitely a nutsuck in the suez canal
Cliff: This has to be
the most people I’ve ever had inside me.
Came close at an infield party in Telladega back in the day.
Taping their names to their foreheads is a very sensible precaution
