Notes on Doom Patrol - Youth Patrol

Youth patrol notes

Larry meditating.  So, does that mean things are ok with Keeg now?

And Vic still has his robot, so they’re tying threads together

Rita is still unconscious from Dr. Janus

OK, So Keeg is off still

Jane is getting stoned and still has the orgasm inducing puzzle piece

And now we’re masturbating.

That was a different transition to the underground

Really?  The alters don’t allow Jane to masturbate?

Jane’s necklace says fuck

OK, now I’m confused.  What’s going on with Jane and the alters

Laura got Cliff a junker to fix up

How did Willoughby get in the back seat

The whole world is talking about Immortus and blaming the DP?

Oh, Rita’s up now.  That’s a relief

Aaand she has aging spots.  Whatever Janus drained from her is making her age now

What’s the connection between Keeg, Rutherfordium, and Larry?

Rouge knew Willoughby was looking for booze.  They’re great together

And finally we get some info on what Immortus is, after all the hinting

****  Uh, actually we took care of the end of the world last week.

Cliff:  Consider the Butts wiped.  Front. To Back.

Cute little fist bump.  I love when Michelle Gomez leans into her Scottish accent

Willoughby:  This is an inter-dimensional deity capable of swallowing the entirety of existence whole!  This could be the end of reality as we know it.

Madame Rouge:  Oh, fuck me senseless and call me Martha.

So the Immortus project was a Bureou project to achieve immortality.  Niles claimed he had a piece of it, and used it to give everybody but Vic their longevity.  He apparently stole it from Mr. Nobody.

That actually makes a lot of sense and ties all four seasons together nicely

That does give a nice explanation why they all don’t age.  It’s not just a coincidence

Nice for him to give all this exposition.  Mark Sheppard is great at this

Willoughby:  There are no depths to your collective stupidity, are there.

And of course Rita isn’t at the meeting, so she doesn’t know what’s going on.  She just doesn’t want to age.  And Larry doesn’t know either because he’s out looking for Keeg

Ooops.  Honey I de-aged the superhero group.

It changed all their clothes to their awkward teenage year

Jane:  Look who got metal back

Vic:  Shut up, Hot Topic.

Willoughby:  That, was a de-aging spell, you whatever the female equivalent of a dickhead is

Jane:  Clithead?

Cliff:  I kinda feel like pounding a metric ton of Taco Bell and whacking off.

Mark Sheppard with Fabio hair!

Rouge didn’t breathe it in

Where is larry?  Is that Darren?  Is Larry in a flashback of Mister 104’s questioning by the Bureau?

So Mister 104 also is way older than he appears

Not Polly.  😊

Why is Keeg hiding out inside Mister 104?

Oh.  Keeg is hiding in 104.  104 is the victim

Rita of course is just happy about being young again

Chaos magicians don’t get their real power until they lose their virginity.  So willoughby’s a virgin again and getting laid will be the cure to the problem

The deaging isn’t going to stop until it erases them

Jizzified!

Teleporting tea room?  In Toledo.  Ms. April

All their different costumes are fun

And now 104 is witnessing Larry’s Bureau testing

Is Keeg making these connections?

Addressing Cliff and Jane’s friendship.  It’s weird how the show rarely addresses that

Jane didn’t exist when her body was a teenager

Hey, Euphoria.

Jane and Cliff are buying booze for the teenagers just so that she can get a hit off the vape

Rita and Rouge are always great together.

So everything we’ve seen all four seasons has been results of the Immortus project.

Where is Rita going now?

Charlie, Jeremy and Winona

Willoughby:  We’re getting into the car, without the cast of Freaks and Geeks After Dark

So they’re all being super irresponsible because teenage brains

Larry clearly seems to believe that it’s Keeg putting him and 104 into each other’s back story memories

Larry can’t hurt 104.  Aww, their hands are touching.  Romantic setup?

Cliff:  Who wants to put Molly in my tank hole!!

Man, Joivan Wade is yoked

Uh oh.  Willoughby’s joined in on the being irresponsible stuff

We almost never see Vic happy

Jane giving Vic a hard time for being too clean cut.

Miranda was the teenager then, so this is Jane’s first taste of being a teenager

Vic’s seeing a flashback of himself and his high school friends

Man, so much of the visuals in this are non-diagetic

What’s happening to Jane?  Again this is a metaphor visual, not something really happening.  There’s been a lot of that in this one

What’s Kay really doing this season?

Jane’s feeling guilty for behaving like she’s a real person

And Kay is being really chill about letting Jane be equally valid a person as she is

Willoughby’s outfit has de-aged again in a fun way.  And now so has Jane’s

And Rita

I knew it.  The de-aging spell did work on Rouge as well, but she’s shape shifting to cover it.

Madame Rouge:  Under this, I am very much not fine, Rita.  Believe me.

They’re really saying a lot about both the joys and pain of being young

Awww… Rita and Laura are reconnecting their friendship!

I miss you too.  God I love how the show isn’t letting Laura off the hook for what she did.  They’re processing it in a really responsible way

It’s hard for them to visualize cliff’s brain regressing while his metal body is unchanged

You do let your friends down a lot when you’re young.

Vic got to Deric’s before he got too young to be recognizable

OK, so it was Keeg planting them into one another’s memories

104 joined Janus to try to stop hurting people.  Ah, if his powers get out of control he could cause a mass extinction event.  So he pledged to Immortus to try to lose his powers and stop people ever dying.

Rama

Maybe Keeg was just trying to set Larry up on a date

Scissormen!!

Bunbury!!

What did Bunbury just do to Willoughby?

Holy shit, did Bunbury just steal Jane’s piece of Immortus??  Is Bunbury working for Immortus now?  And Willoughby gave in so that he wouldn’t die?

Notes on - Doctor Who: Joy to the World

Doctor Who – Joy to the World notes. The Queen’s Hotel – Manchester 1940 I quite like Basil and Mrs. Basil Why are we in WWII again? Basil: It’s the end of everything, you know. Everything we hold dear.   Democracy itself will fall. I hate Pumpkin Latte Aren’t those locked doors pretty much always just connecting rooms? Orient Express – Italy – 1962 Do a lot of people read Murder on the Orient Express on the Orient   Express?   Bit on the nose. OK, we’re opening with a montage of the Doctor bursting in on various time periods and places to offer them the same lukewarm toastie and pumpkin Latte.   That’s a pretty clever way to establish the concept of the hotel from the back door, as it were MOTOE is a much thicker book than that.   And she has handwritten pages Base camp – Everest 1953.   Is there only one base camp? Sandringham Hotel – London 2024.   So, time of airing then. I’m not loving Joy’s outfit Apparently the...

Notes on - American Gods: Tears of the Wrath-Bearing Tree

Tears of the wrath bearing tree notes Eggs with two yolks always freak me out What’s with the boxer walking in and out? Bilquis needs to find ‘the other’ and convince him he isn’t alone? They’re really lening into the fluid in slow motion shots. OK, the wax forming the US was cool.   And a nice visual to introduce the concept of the exact center of the US So who is Shadow’s other?   Laura?   TB?   Wednesday?   We saw all three of them Shadow jiust claimed the ravens as his own. That was a pretty tenuous description for him to recognize Laura from, but then he did know she was headed to kill Wednesday ****   One shock at a time. He’s still Crispin Glover.   I thought he was only supposed to be in one episode this season.   I wonder what the real reason for the casting changes was How did he convince Laura to go the the Gods place? World very carefully told Laura that Shadow was there and then played every reverse psyc...

Notes on - Doctor Who: The Well

The Well Notes The Doctor and Belinda are trying to get back to 5/24/25 after just one vindicator reading.   That seems optimistic, but it is a good way to remind audience of the basic setup of ‘stop and take readings. Belinda is very methodical and logical. Good skill set for a nurse. Belinda: Have we been invaded? Or hit by a meteor? Or swatted by a giant moth? The Doctor: Oh.   Imagine a moth that big! I love how healthy Belinda’s relationship with her parents is *** I will meet your mum and dad. And I will make your dad laugh. And your mum can whistle at my behind. And I will sing.   I will do the singing. That is a promise. So a second triangulation reading from the vindicator 500,000 years in the future She’s asking good questions and it’s allowing the Doctor to   give his standard ‘humans are awesome’ shtick, but is also very cleverly letting them slip in the required ‘The TARDIS translates’ explanation. OK, I am officially in love w...
