Notes on - Loki: Ouroboros

Notes on Ouroboros

Big statue of John Majors.  Awkward

Loki running, chased by Mobius

We’re supposed to think we’re in a different time stream, right?

Very Attack of the Clones

Why’s Casey on Janitorial duty?

Casey’s listening to a relaxation tape!

(Sound of car crashing to the ground)

Loki:  I’m sure she’s fine.

Making the big crack on the floor was a very clever way to illustrate the time jump

What does ‘backwards in time’ even mean in a place outside time?

And now Casey knows who he is, but doesn’t remember the earlier meeting?

So did the branches start growing simultaneously at all times in the TVA?

Miss Minutes!

X-5?

Ah, we’re back to Mobius’ jetski desires.

What does this scene even accomplish?  Just to meet X5?

X-5:  Mobius.  Mobius!  I don’t care?

Mobius:  So why’d you ask?

Who are these judges now?  They mention that Mobius’ old boss is gone, so this must be the replacement figures

Cool effect with Loki ‘time sneezing’

Judges council

Renslayer

Oh, it was X-5 that pruned him last season

So Loki is in the same room, in the past, when there were pictures of Kang instead of a friendly mural

I love that the one judge is openly sleeping

***  We just need a moment to explain

I love the way that this show uses the visuals of old tech.

Who is Kang talking to on the reel to reel?

A woman.  Who is she?

Is that Sylvie?

X-5:  have you seen this… robot head… on the table?

X15 is not wrong about the ethics of what they’ve been doing

The most difficult part of changing is admitting that you had been wrong

X-15 and Mobius had succeeded in changing the Judge’s mind before Loki interrupted

Cool reveal of the statue by pruning the mural

X-5 and the judge seem suspiciously close to one another

So now the judges know that Sylvie is responsible for what’s happening and are looking for her

Mobius is actually being really good in his efforts to calm Loki down

The ethical dilemma is interesting

Mobius:  I’d ask who won, but…

Loki:  It was a draw.

Mobius:  You both kicked each other through time doors simultaneously?

Loki’s considering that he who remains might have been in the right

They get their memories wiped more than once.  That’s why Casey didn’t remember him

Mobius’ argument about time not flowing in the TVA goes directly against  Loki flipping back and forth

Repairs and advancement?

Loki:   We need to deal with He Who Remains

Mobius:  In order to do that I need a Loki who remains.

Panning to reveal that someone else was in the elevator the whole time is a solid joke

They banter SO well

I love Mobius bluffing his way through the conversation with Ouroboros when he clearly can’t remember him at all.

Ouroboros never gets to sleep?

Love how Loki keeps bating Mobius into making mistakes with his conversation with Ouroboros

Morbius:  That.  That’s what’s been happening.

Ouroboros:  Wow.  Time slipping.

Mobius:  Wait.  Y…You know that?

Ouroboros: Yeah.

Mobius: You’ve seen that?

Ouroboros:  Yeah.

Mobius:  Can you fix that?

Ouroboros: No.

Loki in the past gave Ouroboros the nickname that he’d just been told in the future

We’re seeing the changes that Loki is making in the past affecting the future in real time

Temporal Aura Extractor.  Fun technobabble justified

He needs to get to the Temporal loom.

Wait,  Time is manufactured?

When you prune yourself you’re released from time.

The argument about who has it worse is priceless.

Mobius?  Live?  What’s the quality of life with no skin?

The branching is overloading the temporal loom

So all the new universes are taking more energy than the loom can keep up with.

Raw time is refined into physical timeline

Is that going to be the overarching plot for the season?

Oh, ok.  Ticking clock for getting Loki re-synched.  They have to do it before they can fix the Temporal Loom problem and thus save reality

Meanwhile the time judges are going after Sylvie

Mobius really cars about Loki by this point

Just realized the connection between Mobius and Ouroboros

Hoof it.  Ha

The duct tape gag!

I love how unwieldy the vacuum hose connected to him is

The time loom looks a lot like the gate at Asgard

Of course the fix is to him it.  Keeping in line with the old technology aesthetic

Loki, desperate to get pruned

The closing doors is a fantastic image

Great pacing how Mobius clearly isn’t going to make it to the doors in time

Glimpse of Sylvie

Loki missile coming in

Who was on the phone that was ringing?

Where are all the soldiers going if not after Sylvie?

Miss Minutes does feel like a threat

1982 Broxton Oklahoma

You can see how much it means to Sylvie to be back in the real work/timeline

Notes on - Doom Patrol: Ezekiel Patrol

Ezekiel Patrol notes OMH, Alan Tudyks recap via Doctor Seuss to polka music was the best thing ever.   Finally they came together.   Hah! Mr. Nobody:   Cue the recap! ***This is the best timeline EVER! I still don’t get why Jane doesn’t age SO the chief caused their accidents as an experiment in immortality So Mr. Nobody didn’t have any plan for the patrol at all, he was just amusing himself with the bonus of hurting the chief I would watch a season of the Bachelor with Mr. Nobody Mr. Nobody:   I’m going to conduct a parade.   I’m gonna guest host The View.   I’m going to become the next Bachelor! He wanted Niles to feel like nobody Alan puts just the right amount of actual menace underneath the whimsy 1961 The Ant Farm Niles did go back to work for them!   He coordinated the whole test flight for Larry, and didn’t care that he had a wife and kids (and John) Rita was already a test subject for them. ...

Notes on - Doctor Who: Joy to the World

Doctor Who – Joy to the World notes. The Queen’s Hotel – Manchester 1940 I quite like Basil and Mrs. Basil Why are we in WWII again? Basil: It’s the end of everything, you know. Everything we hold dear.   Democracy itself will fall. I hate Pumpkin Latte Aren’t those locked doors pretty much always just connecting rooms? Orient Express – Italy – 1962 Do a lot of people read Murder on the Orient Express on the Orient   Express?   Bit on the nose. OK, we’re opening with a montage of the Doctor bursting in on various time periods and places to offer them the same lukewarm toastie and pumpkin Latte.   That’s a pretty clever way to establish the concept of the hotel from the back door, as it were MOTOE is a much thicker book than that.   And she has handwritten pages Base camp – Everest 1953.   Is there only one base camp? Sandringham Hotel – London 2024.   So, time of airing then. I’m not loving Joy’s outfit Apparently the...

Notes on - Billions: Pilot

Billions notes  Yeah, that first scene is a lot US Attorney’s office SDNY Kate giving the intro talk to some guy named Michael. Bryan was the one who gave her that speech 18 months ago Chuck is already playing with recommendations for judicial appointments Ari Spyros.   FCC here to introduce Bobby as the antagonist Lots of dry insider trading stuff Would they really introduce a possible crime with a head shot? Meanwhile Bobby is introduced enjoying pizza with his wife and being a good guy.   In contrast to Chuck getting burned and pissed on. It’s not believable that Lara hasn’t ever tried Bobby’s favorite pizza before at this point in their marriage. And now Bobby is saving his childhood pizza place from going under out of altruism.    They’re really leaning against type. And from there to Axe Capital Mick Danzig and Ben Kim And now they’re demonstrating that Bobby is smarter Bobby:   Yale? Ben:   Stanford.  ...
